Sweltering Heat Expected to Hit Western Japan

(MENAFN) Western Japan is set to experience sweltering temperatures on Thursday, including regions recently impacted by severe rainfall, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).

The JMA predicts clear skies across the area, pushing temperatures up to 37 degrees Celsius in cities like Saga, Hita in Oita Prefecture, Kurume in Fukuoka Prefecture, and Osaka.

Meanwhile, Kumamoto, Yamaguchi, and Kyoto are expected to hit 36°C, while Kochi and Nagoya will see highs around 35°C, the JMA reported.

However, weather experts warned that unstable atmospheric conditions could lead to the development of rain clouds across parts of both western and eastern Japan in the afternoon.

Following recent intense downpours, the JMA highlighted that the ground has become unstable, with damage to riverbanks and protective revetments in some areas. Authorities urged residents to remain cautious of potential landslides, flooding in low-lying areas, and swollen rivers.
